William Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale - 1127 Words

Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale can be viewed as a tragicomedy that draws upon elements of As You Like It and Othello. Similar themes of trust, love, treachery, infidelity and tyranny are found throughout all three plays. While The Winter’s Tale and As You Like It share similar happy endings, Othello shares more concepts with The Winter’s Tale, but ends with a much more tragic ending. Both Leontes and Othello have severe trust issues and accuse their wives of having affairs. In these plays, both kings end up being incorrect and therefore produce really dramatic story lines. In Othello, Iago plants the seed of jealousy in Othello’s mind, as opposed to in The Winter’s Tale, in which Leontes’s own paranoia feeds this idea in his mind to the point where he orders his wife and baby to be sent away. As You Like It is a play which encompasses themes of love and issues of brotherhood and violation of primogeniture. The conflicts raised at the beginning of the play are resolved at the end of the play just like in The Winter’s Tale. Act V of The Winter’s Tale draws elements from the other plays when the truth is finally revealed about the innocent wives and when there is a happy ending in the plays other than Othello. The main difference between these two plays, is that Othello ends with tragedy and multiple deaths, and The Winter’s Tale ends with family unity and happiness. The Winter’s Tale is labeled as a tragic-comedy because the first three acts of the play feel much like aShow MoreRelatedWilliam Shakespeare s The Winter s Tale1352 Words   |  6 PagesFrom the beginning to the end of ‘The Winter’s Tale’, William Shakespeare explores the equivocal power of the of the imagination, its capacity to create and to destroy. Underground Hard Rock Mining, Drill And Explosion

1.0 Introduction In underground hard rock mining, drill and blast continues to be the dominant method of fragmenting rock. Blast hole deviation is an inevitable yet undesirable outcome of small diameter, long hole drilling. The objective of drill and blast is to unlock a targeted volume of rock for removal and further downstream processing. However, if poor drill hole accuracy is observed, outcomes may be significantly different to that which are planned and expected, resulting in additional cost and time implications. A hole is considered to have deviated if it has not been collared at the correct location, has not followed the projected path or has not broken through at the intended position (Kangwa, 2000). Underground mining uses a cyclical methodology with repetitive steps carried out on a daily basis. As drill and blast is the first stage of extraction, the accuracy of this step can significantly impact the cost of downstream operations including secondary drilling, mucking, transportation, gr ound control, milling, development requirements and crew requirements (Corcoran, n.d.). This report intends to investigate the common sources of drill hole deviation, address the cost and design implications of poor drill accuracy and outline control measures that may be effective in reducing blast hole deviation. Different drilling technologies will also be examined to understand their impact on drilling accuracy. 2.0 Types of drill hole deviation As described by SinghalShow MoreRelatedFossil Fuels Are The Dominant Source Of Energy Being Used By Humans1312 Words   |  6 Pagesdirect pollution, air pollution and global warming. Franchising and Small Business

Question: Discuss about theFranchising and Small Business. Answer: Franchisee in a dog washing franchise or operating an independent dog washing business Introduction The people opt for franchising as a new business opportunity as it is easy and simple. Franchising provides a new owner of business for all the help they require to run their own small business. Another advantage of franchising is that the owner will be the part of the system, however, he will not have to share his profit with anyone else and there will be no boss who will keep an eye all time over the activities of yours. Its a better way to start the business as the franchisers will get both support as well as freedom. It is the activities of utilising someone elses settled business and reproduces it so that the customers can rely and trust the well-known brand. However, the success of the franchisor is depended on the success of franchisees (Perrigot, Hussain Windsperger, 2015). Analysis of Dog Washing Franchisee Business Versus Independent Dog Washing Business Safety The franchisee has a back up of big organization both in terms of brand name and financial requirement Marketing The established franchisor have already established that there is a demand in the market place for their services or product and their brand. Moreover, the franchisees already have detailed and comprehensive plan for marketing of their product. Training staff For any new roles and responsibilities, training part consumes significant time. The owner of franchise may provide training to the staff of the franchisor, for instance, online support, handbooks and learning sessions Value Although there is a fees that is to be paid to the owner, the franchisor can easily analyse the benefit and high value for money, when the help and supports from the franchise is taken into consideration. Buying power for lot size the franchisee will be able to gain more service or product at lower cost as compared to the independent business. Communication with companies will also be set up for maximum level at the corporate level. Strength from size the bigger franchisees will be more flexible as compared to the independent small business when it deals with the competitors from the rival organizations, particularly the larger ones (Pacalo, 2014). However, there are some inherent disadvantages with the the franchisee business that will work as advantageous for the independent business. Less level of freedom the operation of the franchisor will be dictated by the owner only. Therefore, the franchisor will have less scope of implementing their own customization, ideas and innovations that can be availed with the independent business. Moreover, the services and products that are offered by the franchisor are subjected to the restrictions of the owner. Contractual limitation this is a crucial issue as the franchisor has to take proper care while signing the agreements. The legal matters must be handled with due care, so that the franchisor is well aware about the terms and condition. Interest clash the franchisee just get a small part of the profit and the franchisee solely depend upon the profit percentage. Moreover, the owner may push the franchisee to take up the tasks that earn more revenue but at the same time not profitable. These problems are not faced by the independent owner (Lee et al., 2015). Involve more risks though some of the franchisee business is regarded as significantly profitable, many more are there those crave for earning revenue. Various risk factors like marketing, staffing, demography and location are associated with the franchisee business. Swings both ways the brand name of the franchisee business can help the franchise, however, if problem arises at international or domestic level, then that will have impact on the local business of the franchise (Michael, 2014). Conclusion: It can be concluded from the above discussion that though there are some advantages with franchise business and some are there with the independent business. However, it solely depends upon the mental approach, financial condition and preference of the person who is intending to start-up the business. The decision also depends on the demand level for the products or service in the local market, level of competition and the cost involved with the start-up of the business. If the business owner does not have much knowledge about the dog washing business and his financial status is not so strong, initially he can go for franchisee business for dog washing. However, if Mr. Xavier is well aware about the market of dog washing business and have knowledge regarding the cost and benefits associated with the independent dog washing business, he must go for the independent business rather than opting for the do washing franchisee. Emmett Till Not knowing the customs of Mississippi was the downfall for young Emmett Till. While visiting family near Money, Mississippi, Emmett Till, age 14, was murdered. Emmett grew up on Chicagos South side, where he was a fun loving child with a bit of a smart mouth. Living in Chicago, Emmett knew of segregation but had white play mates. On one occasion he had showed his cousins a picture of a white girl and had told them that she was his girl. His friends were some what impressed and had dared Emmett to speak to a white woman who was inside of the store, that they were standing in front of. Emmett went in and bought some candy and as he left, he said to the woman, Bye-baby. That would be the biggest mistake of his life. When the womans husband got back from out of town, there was trouble for Emmett. The womans husband, Roy Bryant, and her brother, J.W. Milam, paid a visit to the cabin of Mose Wright, Emmetts grandfather. The white men did not listen to Mose Wrights suggestion that since Emmett was not from Mississippi, that they may just whip him. Instead, the men kidnapped Emmett and took him to the Tallahatchie River. When they got to the River, they made him carry a 75 pound cotton gin fan to the river bank. The men ordered Emmett to strip, then they beat him and gouged his eye out. After that, they shot him in the head and then threw his body into the river. When his body was discovered, he was so badly mangled that his grandfather was only able to recognize Emmett by the ring that he wore, which bore his fathers initials. .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 , .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .postImageUrl , .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 , .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:hover , .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:visited , .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:active { border:0!important; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:active , .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414 .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .ud7ba0928aa53dc7f7ef52e850f433414:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: apple computers Essay The authorities of Mississippi wanted Emmetts body buried quickly in Mississippi, so that the news would just stay in Mississippi.
